Coach Messmer returns to Pocket City/EG10 for his third season on the Grassroots circuit. Prior to taking the Head Coaching position for the Pocket City 2021 team, Drew led the 2K17 team in 2017. From that team, 2 have committed to play in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (Division III) and 1 has committed to play in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NAIA).
2017-2017 was his first season on the Anderson University men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach. Messmer helped lead the Ravens to a school record 14 wins in conference play which was good for a second-place finish in the HCAC. While he was there, AU set conference records in scoring (1580 points), Field Goals Made (544), Free Throws Made and Attempted (370/446), and FT % (.830). They also finished second in all of Division III basketball in Free Throw Percentage, third in Field Goal Percentage, and fifth in Free Throws Made. Coach Messmer served as an assistant coach at Midway University in 2017-2018
Before he became a coach, Messmer worked for Prep Hoops Indiana. There, he served as the southern Indiana recruiting specialist and gained knowledge in recruiting, developing scouting reports, and networking.
Messmer is currently finishing his undergraduate degree through Western Governors University where he will receive his Bachelor’s in Business Management.
